Silke Nebel is the VP Science and Conservation with Bird Studies Canada, a national NGO that uses scientific research to inform conservation decisions for birds. She also runs a science communication business (‘Science to Action Consulting’). Prior to starting her own business, she worked as a research grant writer at Western University, where she was responsible for securing external research funding from provincial, national and international competitions. Before moving to London, Ontario, she worked out of research institutes in Canada, Panama, the Netherlands, and Australia.
Silke holds a PhD in Biology and has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers on her research. She got involved with the Canadian Science Policy Conference in 2015 as part of the CSPC program committee. Silke served on the Advisory Board of the London Institute for Public Policy and is currently the Chair of the Middlesex-London Food Policy Council.
