Dr. Danika Goosney is the Associate Vice-President of the Tri-Agency Institutional Programs Secretariat, housed at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).   The Secretariat is responsible for the administration of the Canada Research Chairs Program, the Research Support Fund, the Canada Excellence Research Chairs program, the Canada 150 Research Chairs and the Canada First Research Excellence Fund.  In addition to this role, she is also the champion for gender-based analysis at SSHRC. 

Prior to her role at SSHRC, she held several key executive positions at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, including, most recently, the role of Director General, Science, Knowledge Translation and Ethics.

Danika conducted her postdoctoral research in virology at the Scripps Research Institute in California. Following her postdoctoral research, she pursued a career as a research scientist in the biotechnology sector in the areas of antimicrobial resistance and cell line engineering.

Danika holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Biotechnology Laboratory (now the Michael Smith Laboratories), as well as a bachelor of science (first class honours) from St. Francis Xavier University.
